Tsunami: Chinasteel Integrity

The 175,775 dwt freighter Chinasteel Integrity went aground after hit by the tsunami wave while achored off the port of Kashima, Ibaraki, Japan. The Chinasteel Integrity was loaded with a cargo of iron ore. All 25 crewmen on board the vessel were reported safe.

  1. The vessel loaded with iron ore, was forced aground by the tsunami off Kashima. The vessel’s cargo was discharged into a barge, to lighten the vessel for refloating. The vessel’s port anchor has been lost into the water. The vessel’s transom plating has been crushed on the port side, and the starboard forecastle is damaged. Sailed May 2nd for temporary repairs.
