Gudvangen Aground

The 50 meter long, 663 gt ferry Gudvangen went aground near Krakhellesundet, Norway.  The Gudvangen suffered damage to its bow section with a hole in the hull.   Three crewmen were injured of the four on board at the time. The ferry was able to refloat itself later the same day.  The Gudvangen was heading from Maloy with no passengers or cargo to Bergen for winter layup.   Authorities state alcohol was not a factor in the incident.   No pollution was released.

Tassili II

Tassili II

The 147 meter long, 3520 dwt ferry Tassili II returned to port after alliding with a wharf at Oran, Algeria.  The Tassili II was leaving Oran with 2500 passengers and 300 vehicles when it struck a quay.   The crew believed that the damage was minor and continued on its scheduled voyage to Marseille, France.  Later, the crew discovered that the damage was more severe with some water ingress and one propeller was damaged.   The Tassili II returned back to Oran.   Reports state the passengers were upset, but there were no injuries.
