Filipinas Dapitan

The passenger vessel Filipinas Dapitan went aground off Surigao City, Philippines.   The Filipinas Dapitan had left Cebu for Surigao City with 357 passengers on an uneventful voyage.  As the passenger vessel approached the docks to Surigao City, strong winds pushed the vessel into shallow waters some 200 meters away.   Attempts to refloat that day were unsuccessful.   The vessel had gone aground at low tide at the time of the incident.  Authorities decided to transfer all 357 passengers  to another vessel.  No reports of injuries or pollution being released.  Divers have been requested to do a survey for any damage.
