Fanafjord Aground

The 130 meter long, 1500 dwt ferry Fanafjord went aground near Halhjem, Norway.  The Fanafjord sailed from Sandvikvåg with 90 passengers and vehicles.  The ferry was approaching the entrance to Halhjem in the fog when it grounded in shallow water.  The Fanafjord was able to pull itself off and proceeded to Halhjem where passengers safely disembarked.  No injuries reported.  The Fanafjord did sustain some damage a bow thruster and was taken out of service for repairs.   Officials are conducting an investigation.  No reports of pollution being released.
