Arizona Ice

The 190 meter long, 56969 dwt bulk freighter Arizona went aground at St. Petersburg, Russia.   The Arizona was departing the port bound for Houston with a cargo of steel when it struck bottom.   The freighter’s draft had increased unexpectedly due to ice forming on vessel’s keel.  Four tugs were attempted to refloat the vessel, but failed to do so.   No reports of injuries or pollution being released.   Divers have been requested to inspect the hull for any damage.

Bandar Gingri

Bandar Gingri

The Oman‘s Naval vessel Al Muazar rescued a fishing vessel after it rang aground off Bandar Gingri, Dhofar.   The fishing vessel with 16 crew on board had suffered engine failure before going aground.   The Al Muazar towed the fishing vessel to Salalah.   No reports of damage or pollution being released.

Cape Island

Cape Island

The 204 meter long , 20473 dwt United States Naval Auxiliary vessel Cape Island became disabled off Strait of Juan de Fuca, Washington.   The vessel had lost power and went adrift.   The Coast Guard contacted the vessel and dispatched a tug to take the Cape Island under tow back to Port Angeles where it was to undergo an inspection and repairs.  Before the tug arrived, the crew was able to restore power.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.
