The 74 meter long converted luxury yacht Giant I caught fired while moored at a quay at Velsen-Noord, Netherlands.  The fire started on a mattress in one of the crew cabins which resulted in heavy smoke.   The local fire brigade responded and were able to extinguish the fire in a short time.   Four crew suffered smoke inhalation and three taken to hospital.   The amount of damage sustained on the vessel was not reported.  The cause of the fire was still unknown.

On March 17, the fishing vessel SK7 caught fire while at anchor off Suva Harbor, Fiji.  The fire started in the vessel’s wheelhouse and quickly consume the superstructure.  Fiji authorities dispatched a support vessel to help douse the fire.  No reports of injuries.   The fire on the SK7 was extinguished and the vessel was towed to a nearby reef.  The cause of the fire was not reported.

The 11 meter long fishing vessel Rygjabuen went aground near  Brønnøysundregistrene, Norway.  The fishing vessel had struck a shoal in Brønnøy Sound resulting in water ingress.  A lifeboat reached the scene and was able to bring the water ingress under control.  The lifeboat was able to take the Rygjabuen under tow to Brønnøysund where it went into the yard.  No reports of injuries to the 6 crew and no pollution released.
