On March 1, the 294 meter long, 67751 dwt container ship Kalliopi became disabled off Le Havre, France. The Kalliopi had suffered a total power blackout just as it departed from Le Havre, France. The vessel dropped anchor and attempted to carry out repairs.  The following day authorities dispatched a helicopter with an emergency team who were lowered to the deck of the Kalliopi.  The container ship was unable to keep at it’s anchor due to rough conditions. Both crew and the emergency team connected a towline to the emergency tug Abeille Liberté which arrived from Cherbourg. The Abeille Liberté towed the Kalliopi into Le Harve.  No reports of injuries to the 24 crew on board, damage or pollution released.
