On September 28, the 80 meter long self-propelled barge Odin caught fire while berthed at Schwedt, Germany. A deckhand spotted a fire coming from the aft cabin and attempted to extinguish the blaze with the assistance of another deckhand. Their combine effort was not able to control the blaze  and the local fire brigades were called to the scene.  The fire brigade was able to extinguish the fire and found the body of the master of Odin. The water police have reported that the crew was intoxicated and the fire may be part of a homicide. The Odin had arrived from Magdeburg with a cargo of slag.
