The 84 meter long ro-ro passenger ferry Vikingen ran aground at Årsnes, Norway. The ferry was proceeding to Årsnes when it suffered engine failure as it approached the port.  The ferry drifted until it ran onto the breakwater. After the grounding, the ferry released a large amount of smoke and exhaust causing panic among the 34 passengers on board. The passengers were directed to the ferry’s lounge until they could be evacuated. No reports of injuries or pollution released. The Vikingen was later pulled free by the ferry Hordaland.
