The 23 meter long fishing vessel Saint Nicolas BL 788028 went aground near Boulogne, France.  The Saint Nicolas had become disabled when its propeller was damaged when the vessel struck a drifting object.  The fishing vessel was taken under tow by another trawler, the Savior de Monde.  As both vessels headed to Boulogne in the heavy seas and strong winds, the towline broke.  The waves quickly pushed the Saint Nicolas ashore.  Authorities dispatched a helicopter to the scene.  The helicopter was able to winch up the five crew members to safety.  No reports of injuries.

Georich

The 56 meter long, 770 dwt ro-ro passenger ship Georich became disabled  in Dapitan Bay, Philippines. The Georich was en route to Cebu from Dumaguete when it suffered engine failure.  The vessel contacted authorities who dispatched a rescue vessel along with the passenger ship Tresha Krestin to the scene.  There the Philippine Coast Guard personnel safely transferred the 143 passengers to the Tresha Krestin.  They disembarked at Cebu later the same day.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

Hai Xuan 116

The 3221 dwt  bulk freighter Hai Xuan 116 went aground near Vũng Tàu, Vietnam.  The freighter was en route to Dong Nai from Hai Phong with 3,000 tons of ore when it became disabled.   The vessel’s steering system malfunctioned and the Hai Xuan 116 drifted ashore.   No reports of injuries to the 11 crew on board.  Authorities had dispatched a vessel to help coordinate salvage efforts.  Reports state there is a risk for the hull to fracture
