The 25 meter long towboat Karibu O 01 allided with a gate on the Havel-Oder Canal near Eberswalde, Germany. The towboat was headed for Berlin with barges loaded with pig iron when it struck the gate.  The Karibu O 01 had its wheelhouse torn off and two men onboard sustained slight injuries. Both were taken to hospital for treatment. The local fire brigade arrived on scene and placed around the towboat. Hydraulic lines from the towboat had been severed and some pollution was around the vessel.  The water gate sustained significant damage and traffic was halted.  The water police detained the Karibu 0 01 until it completed an investigation into the incident.
