Alios

The 171 meter long, 11400 dwt ro-ro cargo vessel Alios ran aground in the Aegean Sea near Kea Island, Greece. The Alios was headed to Limassol, Cyprus when it went hard aground due to human error. The Alios was unable to refloat itself and requested  assistance.  A tug was dispatched to aid in refloating efforts.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. Local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

The 157 meter long, 7894 dwt vehicle carrier City of Mumbai became disabled whiel off Kea Island near Piraeus, Greece.  The vessel had suffered engine failure and had contacted authorities.   The authorities had planned to send a tug to assist the vessel, but the crew was able to make repairs and restore power.   The City of Mumbai proceeded to an anchorage near Lavrion where authorities where the vessel was inspected.  The vehicle carrier has allowed to proceed on its voyage later the same day.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

Socol 3 Disabled

Socol 3 Disabled

The 9,500 dwt freighter Socol 3 was reported disabled in the Aegean Sea off Kea Island, Greece.  The vessel suffered a mechanical failure while bound for Venezuela with general cargo including explosives.   Authorities on Kea Island denied Socol 3 to the harbor until a survey could be carried out.   The Socol-3 was towed to Lavrion, Greece for repairs.  No reports of injuries or pollution being released.
