Nordic Philip

The 150 meter long, 13031 dwt container ship Nordic Philip allided with several pilings near Kudensee, Germany on the Kiel Canal.   The vessel was proceeding in heavy fog when it struck the pilings.  The Nordic Philip suffered only minor scrapes with the majority of damage done to the pilings.  No reports of injuries or pollution being released.   The master of the Nordic Philip did not report the allision to the water police.  Instead, the police boarded the vessel as it berthed at the Holtenau Locks where they found scrapes along the bow.   The police took samples and continued the investigation.   The vessel was allowed to proceed on to its destination at Klaipeda.   Reports state the master of the vessel faces hefty fines for failing to report the incident.

Hamburg Collision

Hamburg Collision

The 151 meter long container vessel Nordic Philip collided with the 134 meter long , 11400 dwt container vessel Anna Sirka at the Container Terminal Altenwerder in Hamburg, Germany.   The Nordic Philip struck the stern of the Anna Sirkka after suffering engine failure.  The damages estimated over 100,000 € to both vessels and the pier.  The second mate on the Nordic Philip was slightly injured during the incident and was taken to hospital.  He was later released the same day.  No reports of pollution being released.  The water police have detained both vessels while conducting an investigation into the incident.

Nordic Philip Disabled

Nordic Philip Disabled

The 13031 dwt boxship Nordic Philip became disabled off Kotka, Finland after having engine problems.   The vessel requested assistance and the tugs Aku and Mars to Kotka.  The vessel later discharged its cargo of containers and is at berth awaiting repairs.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.
