Tanker Strikes Cruise Ship

The 4,739 dwt bunker tanker Gazpromneft Nord struck the moored 289 meter long, 113,000 gt cruise ship Emerald Princess at Berth 6 of the harbour of St. Petersburg, Russia.  The tanker cause damage to the starboard side of the Emerald Princess with 2 lifeboats damaged, davits, a life raft, and a workboat fell overboard.  The Gazpromneft Nord suffered dents to the hull.    No injuries or pollution was released.   A survey of damage is being conducted by the Lloyds’s office.

MSC Maria Aground

MSC Maria Aground

The 21,370 dwt boxship MSC Maria went aground while leaving  St. Petersburg, Russia near Voyennaya Gavan, Kronshtadt Island.   The boxship had the pilot still on board when the vessel’s rudder jammed causing the vessel to veer out of the channel and strike bottom.   Reports state the hull of the MSC Maria was ok, but pollution had been released.   Two tugs are standing by to assist in refloating operations.   The MSC Maria had left St. Petersburg bound for Rotterdam.

Collision off St. Petersburg

Collision off St. Petersburg

The 48,170 dwt freighter Golden Trader collided with the 37,296 dwt tanker Baltic Wind off St. Petersburg, Russia.   The two vessels were proceeding in an ice convoy lead by the icebreaker Ermak when the Baltic Wind stopped in front of the  Golden Trader.   The Baltic Wind suffered minor damage to its stern and an aft lifeboat.  The Golden Trader didn’t report any damage.   No reports of  injuries or pollution released.
