Tanker Aground

The 250 meter long, 105656 dwt tanker Alfa Italia went aground on the Wester Scheldt near Nauw van Bath, Netherlands.  The Alfa Italia was proceeding from Hound Point to Antwerp went it went aground at low tide.  Five tugs were dispatched to the scene and were able to refloat the tanker the same day.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.

Bernic Aground

Bernic Aground

The 70 meter long self-propelled barge Bernic went aground in the lock between Scheldt River and Pommeroeul-Conde Canal.  The master of the Bernic was proceeding to a section that had closed in the 1990s due to being too shallow for barge traffic.  The Bernic was unable to free itself and has requested the assistance of a tug.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.

Flumina Aground

Flumina Aground

The fire department pumped the water from the ruim.tdk

The 39 meter long self-propelled barge Flumina struck bottom on the Scheldt River near Bornem, Belgium.  The vessel suffered water ingress, but was able to continue to a jetty in Bornem.   There local firefighters aided the crew to pump out the water and do temporary repairs.  The Flumina had 280 tons of barley on board which was not impacted by the water ingress.   The Flumina continued under its own power to a wharf for permanent repairs.  No reports of injuries or pollution being released.
