Saint Clair

The 24 meter long fishing vessel Saint Clair ran aground while attempting to enter Glandore harbour, Ireland.  The crew alerted authorities who dispatched a lifeboat and helicopter to the scene. The RNLI lifeboat arrived first and safely transferred all seven crewmen off the Saint Clair.  One  crewman was later taken to hospital.  The Saint Clair later drifted off the rocks and was taken under tow by the lifeboat into the harbour.

The 157 meter long, 13000 dwt cargo vessel Flevoborg caught fire on the River Tyne while berthed in South Shields, England. The crew spotted some smoke coming the cargo hold and when the hold was opened the smoldering cargo of wooden pallets from Tallinn burst into flames.  The crew requested assistance with the local fire brigade responding.  With the aid of a fireboat, the fire bridage  was able to extinguish the blaze within an hour.  No reports of injuries or pollution released. Some 100 tons of the 11,000 tons of cargo was damaged.  Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
