The 89 meter long cargo vessel Schokland became disabled off the Orkney Islands. The Schokland, loaded with wind turbine parts, was passing the island of Hoy when it suffered a power blackout after its main engine failed.  A tug was dispatched and towed the Schokland to Pentland Firth.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

The  24 meter long fishing vessel Argonaut BA 858 became disabled in heavy seas off Dublin, Ireland.  The trawler was fishing for scallops when a rope became entangled in the vessel’s propeller.  Unable to remove the rope, the Argonaut lost propulsion.  The Argonaut crew requested assistance with the Howth and Dun Laoghaire RNLI lifeboat responding. The lifeboats were able to attach a towline to the Argonaut even while battling strong winds and waves reaching 4 meters high. The vessels proceeded to Howth Harbour where the Argonaut safely docked a few hours later. No reports of injuries.
