On September 13, the 77 meter long tanker Zapadnyy ran aground at the entrance to Silloth harbour, England.  The tanker, loaded with molasses, stranded on a sandbank barely avoiding running onto the nearby rocks. The Zapadnyy was later refloated on the following high tide. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. Reports state that a communication error caused the tanker to run aground. The Zapadnyy entered Silloth and unloaded its cargo and proceeded to its next port to Klaipeda.

In 2011, the Zapadnyy allided with a dock in Bremen, Germany.
