On October 26, the 47 meter long, 510 dwt dredger Grete Fighter caught fire on the Clyde near Wemyss Bay, Scotland. The fire started in the vessel’s engine room damaging the main engine and a generator. The crew was able to extinguish the blaze by using the fire suppression system on board. One crew man was later treated for smoke inhalation. No pollution released.  The damage disabled the vessel and vessel went adrift.  Authorities dispatched two tugs to the dredger and the Grete Fighter was taken under tow to Inchgreen, Greenock for repairs.
