The 18 meter long fishing vessel Good Intent collided with the fishing vessel SIlver D off Ardglass, County Down, Northern Ireland. The Good Intent had struck the Silver D resulting in damaging  both vessels.  The Silver D suffered uncontrolled water ingress and sank.  The five crew on board on the Silver D were able to abandon ship into the vessel’s life raft.  The Silver D crew were rescued by the Good Intent.  The Good Intent had its own issues. The fishing vessel had sustained bow damage and was taking on water, but the vessel’s pumps had the flooding under control. The RNLI was alerted and dispatched the lifeboat from Newcastle to the scene. The RNLI lifeboat escorted the Good Intent back to Ardglass. No reports of injuries.

The 290 meter long bulk carrier Cape Canada collided with the 254 meter long bulk carrier Mei Hua Hai in the English Channel off the Lizard coast.  The duty officer on the Cape Canada had made a mistake resulting in the collision of the two vessels.  Both bulk carriers sustained some damage to the hull, but an inspection by the Coastguard found both vessels were still seaworthy.  The coastguard released the  Cape Canada and Mei Hua Hai to continue on their voyages.  The Cape Canada was en route to Sept-Ilies from Dunkerque while the Mei Hua Hai was headed to Baltimore from Hamburg. No reports of injuries and no pollution was released.
