Subsea Viking

The 103 meter long, 6350 dwt supply vessel Subsea Viking caught fire  while berthed at Kirkwall, Orkney Islands. The fire was quickly extinguished.  The local fire brigade along with a Coast Guard tug remained on the scene.  The tug continued to pump water onto the deck in order to cool down pressure tanks located on the deck of the Subsea Viking. No reports of injuries or pollution released.

The 82 meter long, 1720 dwt cargo vessel Celtica Hav caught fire outside Aberdeen Harbour. The Celtica Hav was underway from Aberdeen with a cargo of malted barley when smoke was spotted coming from the cargo hold. The RNLI lifeboat was alerted and escorted the Celtica Hav back into the harbour.  Three local fire brigades were standing by on a quay to extinguish the smoldering fire. No reports of injuries or pollution released.
