The 60 ton fishing vessel Corontine ran aground at the entrance to the River Wyre at Fleetwood, Lancashire. The Corontine had earlier entered the port and unloaded its cargo of whelks.  Later on the rising tide, the fishing trawler headed back out to sea. However, the master of the vessel missed one of the navigation lights and steered the vessel onto a sandbank. The RNLI and Coastguard launched vessels to the scene. All five crew of the Corontine were rescued. No reports of injuries. Reports state the master of the Corontine was found intoxicated and later charged. No reports of pollution.

The fishing vessel  Fredwood BA338 sank in Maryport harbour, England. The vessel had arrived in harbour the day before and had unloaded its catch when the incoming tide swamped the vessel.   Unable to control the flooding the Fredwood developed a list to port and partially sank.  The RNLI assisted in rescuing the four crew on board while the Maryport fire brigade aided with a dewatering pump. No reports of injuries. Reports state the vessel’s hull may have been punctured which allowed the water ingress.
