On September 13, the 77 meter long tanker Zapadnyy ran aground at the entrance to Silloth harbour, England.  The tanker, loaded with molasses, stranded on a sandbank barely avoiding running onto the nearby rocks. The Zapadnyy was later refloated on the following high tide. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. Reports state that a communication error caused the tanker to run aground. The Zapadnyy entered Silloth and unloaded its cargo and proceeded to its next port to Klaipeda.

In 2011, the Zapadnyy allided with a dock in Bremen, Germany.

The 77 meter long tanker Lizrix became disabled in the English Channel between Dover and Calais.  The Lizrix was en route to Immingham from St. Helier when it suffered damage to its propulsion system. The crew on board were unable to make repairs and the tanker dropped anchor.  Authorities dispatched an emergency tug Abeille Languedoc along with another tug to the scene.  The tugs took the Lizrix under tow and proceeded to Dover. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
