The 164 meter long, 12466 dwt freighter Arabian Breeze allided with the Holtenau Lock in the Kiel Canal. The Arabian Breeze was pushed off course by a strong gust of wind and struck the pilings at the lock entrance. The freighter suffered some damage in the foreship. No reports of injuries or pollution being released. The freighter was scheduled to Malmo from Bremerhaven before the incident.
Auto Bay
The 139 meter long, 7630 dwt freighter Auto Bay allided with the Brunsbüttel lock in the Kiel Canal. The Auto Bay was pushed by strong winds when it’s stern struck a portion of the lock. The lock had a steel cover damaged and the Auto Bay also received some minor damage. No reports of injuries or pollution being released. After a brief investigation, the freighter was allowed to proceed to its destination of Fredericia, Denmark the same day.
Anita Ashore
The 13 meter long fishing vessel Anita was driven ashore off Ramvika, Norway after striking bottom. The fishing vessel struck a rock which damaged the hull and allowing water ingress into the engine room. The crew contacted authorities it was going to beach the vessel before it sank. A lifeboat was dispatched to the scene and rescued the two men on board the Anita. No reports of injuries.
