Ireen

The 110 meter long self-propelled tanker-barge Ireen allided on the Rhine near Vogelgrun, Germany.  The Ireen was proceeding northbound from Birsfelden in ballast when it approached the lock.  As it entered the lock, the crew lost control and the tanker rammed the lock gates and wall.  No reports of injuries or pollution released. Both the Ireen and the lock sustained severe damage.  The lock was reported to be inoperable and the second lock had been taken out of service.   The next day workmen were able to bring the second lock into service to allow ship traffic to continue.

Isoldana

Isoldana 3

The 198 meter long, 43867 dwt bulk freighter Isoldana went aground onto embankment in the Kiel Canal near Schinkel, Germany.   The vessel was refloated by the aid of a tug later the same day.   The tug towed the Isoldana back to Kiel.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.   The water police launched an investigation into the incident.

Island Panther

The 17 meter long workboat Island Panther allided with a tower at an off shore windfarm near Sheringham, England.   All five crewmen on board were injured in the collision with one man requiring medical assistance.  The vessel contacted the RNLI who dispatched lifeboats to the scene.  The first lifeboat to arrived administered first aid while the second brought a doctor to the Island Panther.   The lifeboats escorted the Island Panther back to Wells where ambulances took the injured crew to hospital.
