On the morning of November 3, the 24 meter long motor vessel Kehrheim sprung a leak in the Baltic Sea while berth at Burgstaaken, Germany. Reports state the Kehrheim had partially sank during the night after the bilge pump had failed. The local fire brigade was called out which brought dewatering pumps to the scene. Fire fighters deployed a boom around the vessel to contain any pollution while 4 dewatering pumps were able to contain the flooding.  After several hours, the Kehrheim was stable and the bilge pump would be repaired.  No reports of injuries.

 

 

Komander

Komander

On the afternoon of October 28, the 274 meter long, 150,581 dwt tanker Komander (IMO: 9271585) ran aground near kilometer 47 of the Suez Canal. The Komander was proceeding southbound in the canal when it suffered a mechanical breakdown The tanker went adrift and eventually ran aground.

Suez Canal Authorities were alerted and dispatched multiple tugs to assist. The tugs Mohamed Bashir,  Mosaed 4, Port Said 3, Suez 1, Nabil El-Hilali arrived on the scene. The tugs were able to pull the Komander free in less than an hour. Another tug took over towing and the vessels proceeded to the Bitter Lakes where the tanker dropped anchor.

No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. Authorities state that no traffic was disrupted during the incident.  The Komander was built in 2004 and is reported to be part of the Russian shadow fleet of tankers.

Kvernes

On the afternoon of September 22, the 52 meter long ro-ro passenger ferry Kvernes (IMO: 7618832)  allided on the Hjørundfjorden at Sæbø, Norway. The Kvernes was completing its regular route between Leknes and Sæbø when the ferry struck the quay at  Sæbø. Reports state the vessel struck head-on into the quay at speed. One crew member sustained injuries during the incident. The Kvernes sustained undisclosed amount of damage and was taken out of service. Reports state the ferry resumed service by the following day. No further details reported
