On the morning of September 13, the 135 meter long self-propelled tanker barge Mi-Deseo (MMSI: 244670658) allided with a bridge on the Gent-Terneuzen Canal near Sluiskil, Netherlands. The Mi-Deseo was sailing from Werkendam when it’s wheelhouse struck the the underside of the Sluiskil Bridge. The Mi-Deseo wheelhouse was severely damaged, but there were no injuries on board. Reports state the bridge was undamaged from the incident. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

 

 

Meike

On the evening of Sep 4, 2025, the 96 meter long cargo vessel Meike (IMO: 9105841) caught fire at the Kishon West port of Haifa, Israel. The fire started in the Meike‘s hold loaded with scrap metal.  Fire fighters were called out to help  extinguish the blaze. The burning scrap metal was being offloaded to the nearby quay where fire fighters will extinguished.

Authorities report there have been no casualties. The extent of damage to the vessel was not released, but reports state there was no danger to Meike. No pollution was released.

Monreal

On the night of August 27, the 49 meter long, 274 dwt ro-ro passenger ferry Monreal (IMO: 7225477)  caught fire in the Ragay Gulf one nautical mile off San Andres, Philippines. The Monreal was headed to San Andres from Aroroy, Masbate with 66 passengers and 53 crew on board when a fire broke out in a crew’s cabin. The fire was ignited by an electrical short and quickly spread through the cabin. The crew was able to react quickly and contain the blaze while an electrician on board the ferry was able to restore electrical power.

The ferry arrived at San Andres where passengers and crew disembarked and were given medical checks. There were no reports of injuries to the 119 people on board.  The Philippine Coast Guard has launched an investigation into the incident and has detained the Monreal.
