On July 19, the 158 meter long, 16000 dwt tanker Nordic Wolverine ran aground in the Caribbean Sea off Barranquilla, Columbia. The tanker departed from Cartagena loaded with chemicals and arrived off the entrance to the Magdalena River when it ran aground off the breakwater. Tugs were dispatched but were unable to free the Nordic Wolverine. The tanker had gone aground on rocky bottom and authorities requested a special tug to pull it free.

The tanker remained aground six days until the tug arrived and were finally able to free the Nordic Wolverine. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

Njord Forseti

The 26 meter long, 31 dwt offshore supply vessel Njord Forseti allided with a wind turbine in the Borkum Riffgrund wind farm in the North Sea. The Njord Forseti bow sustained significant damage including a half meter crack in the hull allowing water ingress. The vessel’s own pumps kept the flooding under control. Three crew on board the Njord Forseti were injured during the incident. One crewman severely injured was airlifted by helicopter to a hospital in the Netherlands. A DGzRS lifeboat was dispatched from Borkum to the scene. The lifeboat escorted the Njord Forseti back to the port of Eemshaven. No reports of pollution released.

Ningda 10

On April 11, the coastal tanker Ningda 10 (mmsi: 412750390) ran aground in the East China Sea off Zhoushan, China. The Ningda 10 was en route to Ningbo when it ran up on the rocks off Zhoushan. The tanker sustained hull damage and the engine room was quickly flooded. Authorities were alerted and the rescue vessel Dong Hai Jiu 118 was dispatched to the scene. The Dong Hai Jiu 118 arrived and rescued all 7 crew safely. No reports of injuries. No details reported if the Ningda 10 has released any pollution or not.
