Oil Spill

The oil tanker OT Moon (TK 10 LAKH)  capsized and sank in the Karnaphuli river at a jetty in the port of Chittagong, Bangladesh.  The tanker loaded with 180 metric tons of fuel oil began to sink while loading it’s oil cargo.   Nine crewmen on board were rescued.   The pollution is being released due to an open cap on the sunken tanker.    A salvage ship along with two cleaner vessels are on scene.    The fuel oil has caused a decrease amount of dissolved oxygen in the river and pollution has reach some shorelines.  Authorities will be conducting an investigation into the sinking of the tanker.
