Seaford 2

 

The 1100 dwt freighter Seaford 2 sank off San Jose, Antique, Philippines. The freighter, loaded 47,000 bags of cement, suffered a severe list prompting the crew to send out a distress call. The Philippine Coast Guard responded and rescued all 18 crew before the Seaford 2 sank. Reports state there is some concern of pollution being released from the 7,000 liters of diesel fuel on board. Authorities are investigating into the incident.

Seatransport

The 241 meter long tanker Seatransport collided with the 385 gt fishing vessel Deborah off Milford Haven.  The tanker suffered some damage to its stern above the waterline.  No reports of injuries on either vessel.   The tanker’s cargo of 90,000 tons of crude oil remained secured and no reports of pollution being released.    The Sea Transport will be inspected before it is allowed to berth at Milford Haven coming from the Sullom Voe terminal on the main island of the Shetland Islands.

Silver Lady

Silver Lady

The 56 foot long fishing vessel Silver Lady suffered an explosion while berthed at Port Townsend, Washington.   The vessel was recharging its batteries when it exploded.  The explosion damaged machinery on board, but the hull remained intact.  The Coast Guard responded quickly as the Cutter Osprey was docked nearby.   The explosion may have resulted by acetylene tanks and oxygen tanks stored near the batteries.   No reports of injuries.   The Coast Guard is conducting an investigation into the incident.
