Stryn Damaged

The 530 dwt passenger ferry Stryn suffered water ingress while at Kaupanger ferry landing, Norway. The vessel contacted authorities as the water ingress threaten to sink the vessel. The situation was brought under control, but after large amounts of water had entered the engine room. Booms were placed around the vessel to prevent pollution being released. The Stryn usually runs between Mannheller and Fodnes.

Schloss Mainau Collision

The 110-meter long gas tanker Schloss Mainau collided with the empty barge pushed by the Herkules IV at Barendrecht.    Both vessels were in a dense fog before they met in the head-to-head collision.   Luckily, the damage was limited to the bow as the Schloss Mainau.  It was carrying 1800 tons of propylene oxide, a highly flammable liquid, but the cargo holds remained intact.  Reports state no one was injured, but the Schloss Mainau was towed to dry dock at Heinenoord   The cause of collision is not known as both vessels had AIS onboard.

Spirit of Resolution Aground

The 4766 dwt freighter Spirit of Resolution lost power and went aground in the main channel of Manukau harbour, New Zealand.    The vessel was refloated by the assistance of a tug and berthed atOnehunga.   No reports of damage or pollution being released.
