The 19000 ton French chemical tanker Chantaco went aground near Havringe, Sweden. The vessel’s anchor dragged resulting in it grounding. Reports state damage to the ballast tanks and resulting list. No pollution release was reported. The Chantaco was bound for Oxelosund, Sweden from Riga, Latvia.
Tall ship demasted
The tall ship Fryderyk Chopin lost both its masts off the southwest coast of the Isles of Scilly. The Polish vessel was damaged by a strong gust of wind. The damage was severe enough that it needed to be towed into Falmouth Bay by a tug. No reports of injuries.

Tanker trawler collision

The Russian tanker Krasnodar collied with the fishing trawler Cap Frehel in the English Channel. The collision occurred between Gernsey and Plimouth. Reports state the 115,605 dwt tanker was undamaged, but the trawler was damaged and 1 crew member was injured.
