On October 7, the 87 meter long ro-ro passenger ferry Ullensvang allided with the pier at Sulesund, Norway. The ferry had suffered a failure of one its propellers when it slammed into the pier.  The ferry hit with enough force to cause vehicles to crash into each other and throw passengers off their feet. Reports state there were no serious injuries. The Ullensvang suffered damage to its bow gate and was removed from service for repairs. No pollution was released.

United Fortune

United Fortune

On May 10, the 229 meter long, 82099 dwt bulk carrier United Fortune ran aground while loading cargo on the Parana River near Rosario, Argentina. The United Fortune had loaded over 43,000 tons of iron ore when the vessel struck bottom. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. Tugs were requested to assist refloating the vessel.

Unistar

Unistar

The 90 meter long, 4560 dwt cargo vessel Unistar ran aground off Sodertalje near Stockholm, Sweden. The Unistar was en route to Hasselby from St. Petersburg  when it grounded just outside the Sodertalje Lock. The cargo vessel was able to refloat itself by its own means and proceeded to Hasselby.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
