A vessel sank near the left bank of the Danube near Eckartsau, Austria. The vessel being pushed by a dredger was heading upstream when it swung perpendicular to the flow of the river and sank. No one was injured, but river traffic has been closed near the wreck.
Volgo-Balt 144 Allision
The 3110 dwt freighter Volgo-Balt 144 allided with the lower gates of Lock 1 in the Moscow Channel. The Volgobalt 144 recevied no damage, but the lock did sustain some damage. The Volgo-Balt 144 was coming from St. Petersburg.
Vessel aground near Goa
Reports state the MV Chowpatlal used to transport iron ore from Goa, India went aground near Calangute beach. The Chowpatlal got caught in a squall with heavy rains with strong winds. The crew was unable to steer the vessel which drifted toward the shoreline. The MV Chowpatlal was towed away the next day. No reports of injury or pollution released.
