Xin Hai Tong 37

On March 21, the 190 meter long, 56539 dwt bulk carrier Xin Hai Tong 37 (IMO: 9594597) ran aground in the Sea of Marmara near Ahırkapı, Turkey.  The Xin Hai Tong 37 was headed to Mozambique from Russia when it went aground.

Authorities dispatched multiple vessels including the tugboats Kurtarma 7 and Kurtarma 9 to assist. The tugs were able to refloat the bulk carrier and proceeded to a nearby anchorage. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

The 43.6 meter long fishing vessel Xin Yi Yi capsized and partially sank off Penang Island, Malaysia.  The Xin Yi Yi had struck the wreckage of a previous shipwreck damaging the hull and allowing water ingress.  The five crew on the Xin Yi Yi were rescued by authorities.  No reports of injuries.   Authorities are monitoring the site for any signs of pollution released.

 

Xin Dong Yuan

The 97 meter long, 6948 dwt cargo vessel Xin Dong Yuan sank in the Taiwan Strait off Pintang Island, China. The Xing Dong Yuan had collided with another cargo vessel and quickly sank. Authorities were alerted and a search and rescue operation was deployed. Over 20 vessels and aircraft searched for the 14 crew of the Xing Dong Yuan.  Four crew were rescued and four bodies were recovered. The name of the second vessel in the collision was not disclosed.
