Xin Yang

Xin Yang

The 56 meter long cargo vessel Xin Yang ran ashore on Dangan Island near Hong Kong, China. The Xin Yang was headed to Taiwan from Hong Kong with a cargo of foodstuffs when it was driven ashore by strong winds with waves reaching 4 meters high. The six crew on board the Xin Yang found the vessel resting below the cliffs on the shore. Authories dropped a rope and were able to pull all six crew to safety. No reports of injuries. The Xin Yang sustained hull damage with water ingress. Authorities have launched an emergency plan and are monitoring the vessel.

Xin Zhou

The 77 meter long, 1650 dwt cargo vessel Xin Zhou caught fire while loading scrap at Toyohashi, Japan.  Local authorities dispatched fire fighters and fire fighting boats to the scene.  The burning scrap was removed from the hull and doused by water. After several hours, the fire fighters were able to bring the blaze under control. All crew on board were able to safely evacuate to the pier. Some of the crew suffered smoke inhalation.  Damage by the fire to the Xin Zhou was not reported. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

Xin Mao

Typhoon winds send bulk carrier Xin Mao aground

The 160 meter long, 24,148 dwt bulk carrier Xin Mao ran aground off Taizhou, China. The bulk carrier was at anchor when strong winds from the approaching typhoon caused its anchors to drag. The Xin Mao attempted to heave its anchor and maneover away from shore when it suffered a mechanical fault.  The crew sent out a distress call asking to be evacuated off the vessel.  Reports state all 14 crew were later rescued by authorities from Taizhou.  No reports of injuries.
