Zapadnyy Allision

The 3297 dwt tanker Zapadnyy allided with a floating dock at the Lurssen Yard located on the Weser River near Bremen, Germany.   Another vessel had tried to pass by the Zapadnyy at the bend of the river forcing the Zapadnyy to veer off into the floating dock.   The dock was knocked from its moorings and pushed 200 meters downstream.   The Zapadnyy suffered severe damage to the foreship including water ingress requiring the vessel to be intentionally run aground.    Three tugs were called to push the dock back to its position.
