Ferry Karya Terang sinks

The ferry Karya Terang sank off the coast of East Nusa Tenggara province, Indonesia. The vessel was carrying around 66 passengers onboard when it was overwhelmed in bad weather. Waves upto 3 meters resulted in engine failure and the vessel to sink. Reports state there were 44 survivors.

Ro-Ro aground off Oriental Mindoro

The ro-ro ferry Super Shuttle Ferry 22 ran aground shortly after leaving the pier of the village of Barangay, Roxas, Oriental Mindoro, Philippines. The ferry’s engine broke down and drifted onto shallow water by strong winds. All 141 passengers were transferred to another vessel who were bound for Caticlan. Reports state there was some difficulty unloading heavy vehicles onboard to allow the 900 ton ferry to be pulled free.

Sheng Jai 16 foundered in typhoon

The Cambodia general cargo vessel Sheng Jai 16 foundered in the Taiwan Strait. The 4500 ton Sheng Jai 16 was carrying 3000 tons of flourite when it was overwhelmed by the typhoon Megi. Reports confirmed 8 crew members rescued of the 13 onboard.
