The 614 dwt trawler Number one Insung sank between New Zealand and Antarctica. Nearby vessels were able to rescue 20 crewmen of the 42 onboard. No reports to the cause of the sinking. Weather has been ruled out with light winds and 1 meter waves.

The tug Anne Marie sank at its mooring on the Saginaw River and partially covered by ice. The vessel had 2500 gallons of diesel fuel onboard. Reports state that some pollution was released, but an oil boom was in place to contain fuel or oil released. The cause of the sinking was not reported.
