Jay Luhr Allision

 

The 168 foot long towboat Jay Luhr allided with a Railroad Bridge near Thebes, Illinois on the Mississippi River causing all 25 barges loaded with rock to break loose.   Twenty four barges have been recovered with one still in the waterway.  No reports of injuries or pollution being released.  The Coast Guard is investigating the incident.

Arklow Resolve Aground

Arklow Resolve Aground

The 4530 dwt freighter Arklow Resolve went aground near Vordingborg, Denmark.   A tug was requested as the Arklow Resolve was not able to refloat itself.   The Arklow Resolve was heading to Spain with a cargo of grain before it went aground.  Reports state there was no pollution released.

Mare Liberum Disabled

Mare Liberum Disabled

The 21-meter long, 170 ton fishing vessel Mare Liberum became disabled off the Dithmarscher Coast.  The Mare Liberum had a hydraulic pump failure which left the rudder blocked.   The 2 men on board contacted the German Maritime Rescue Service (GMRS)  located at Busum.   The GMRS launched the rescue boat SK-33 which took the Mare Liberum under tow back to Busum.
