Submarine Adrift
A remote controlled mini submarine went adrift in the swallow waters off Den Helder, Netherlands. The submarine was being towed by a naval tug when the towline broke allowing it go adrift. The submarine drifted into waters too shallow for the tug to proceed. The tug contacted the KNRM who dispatched a lifeboat from Helder to the scene. The lifeboat crew were able to locate the submarine and attach a towing cable then proceeded to tow it into deeper water. The sub was then transferred back to the navy tug. No reported injuries, damage or pollution being released.
