Bergensfjord

Bergensfjord

The 130 meter long, 1500 dwt ferry Bergensfjord became disabled after a voyage from Sandviksvåg to Halhjem, Norway.  The ferry was approaching the pier when the anchor unexpectedly dropped causing the vessel to come to a sudden stop.  The Bergensfjord sat some 50 meters from the shore for several hours until the crew was able to make repairs.   Reports state the problem was from a fault in the hydraulic brake system on the anchor.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.
