Atagun

The 78 meter long tanker Atagun became disabled after suffering an engine failure while on the Maas River near Vlaardingen, Netherlands.   The vessel requested assistance and the tugs Thames Bank and Union 7 were able to take the tanker under tow.   The vessels proceeded to Rotterdam where the Atagun will undergo repairs.    No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.

Singapore Collision

The 130 meter long, 10701 dwt boxship Kota Tenaga collided with the 333 meter long VLCC tanker Seeb near Pulau Sebarok in the Strait of Singapore.   The Kota Tenaga suffered damage allowing five metric tons of fuel oil to be released into the water.  Authorities dispatched response vessels to the scene.  An oil boom was placed around the Kota Tenaga while dispersants were used to break up any oil patches sighted in the water.  No reports of injuries.   Authorities are conducting an investigation into the incident.
