The 18 meter long tug Willem Lourens went aground at Terneuzen, Netherlands.  The tug with three barges ran onto a harbor dam.   The Willem Lourens was able to refloat itself under its own power.   Several other tugs responded and aided in refloating the barges.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

The 97 meter long, 7424 dwt freighter Yuan Tong sank off Zhoushan, China.   The freighter had left from the Longshan Shipyard with 40 crew on board en route to another berth when the vessel quickly foundered going down by the bow.   Rescuers from eight ships were able to save 32 crewmen.  Seven men remain listed as missing and one man confirmed drowned.  A small oil slick is visible where the freighter sank.    The cause of the sinking is not known, but authorities are conducting an investigation into the incident.

Hebei Universe

The 296 meter long, 180407 dwt bulk freighter Hebei Universe went aground on the Black Sea near Zonguldak, Turkey.   The vessel was approaching the port to unload 94338 gt of coal at the local power station when it suffered engine failure.   The vessel was refloated and the cargo of coal unloaded.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
