Royal Diamond 7

The 128 meter long, 9500 dwt chemical tanker Royal Diamond 7 suffered an explosion while berthed at Mumbai, India.  The explosion occurred in a store room resulting in six crewmen injured and one killed.  A tug was dispatched to the scene and took the injured crew to shore where ambulances took the them to a nearby hospital.  The resulting fire was brought under control and extinguished a few hours later.    A fire occurred in the same store room earlier on March 17.  No further details reported.

English Channel Collision

The 151 meter long, 10113 dwt reefer Spring Bok collided in heavy fog with the 88 meter long, 3590 dwt LPG tanker Gas Arctic.   The Spring Bok struck the stern of the Gas Arctic while attempting to overtake it.  Both vessels suffered damage above the waterline, but were able to proceed under their own power to Portland, England.  Both vessels will be inspected.   No reports of injuries to the 14 crew on the Gas Arctic or the 22 crew on the Spring Bok.  Authorities are conducting an investigation into the incident.
