Brooklyn Bridge Allision

The 30 meter long, 186 dwt tug Thomas Dann was towing a crane vessel on the East River when the upright crane struck the scaffolding on the underbelly of the span of the Brooklyn Bridge.   The bridge suffered no structural damage, but a 20 by 75 foot section of the scaffold was damage or fell into the river below.   The scaffolding has been in place for several years to allow crews to repaint the bridge.  No reports of injuries.   Authorities are conducting an investigation into the incident.

The 66 meter long fishing vessel Ostanger went aground on a sandbank near Finnsnes, Norway.   The vessel pumped water out of its ballast tanks to allow it to be refloated.   No further details reported.

Collision off Amrum

Collision off Amrum

The 20 meter long fishing vessel ZK 12 Pieter Dion collided with the fishing vessel Paloma G near the island of Amrum, Germany.  The Paloma G suffered damage to its wheelhouse and mast.   The Pieter Dion had no signs of damage.  No  reports of injuries or pollution being released.   Authorities are conducting an investigation into the incident.
