The 54 meter long, 386 dwt fishing vessel Umbrina collided with the 50 dwt fishing vessel Altay near Kildin Island, Russia in the Barents Sea.   The Umbrina was struck by the Altay after suffering a power blackout.   The Umbrina had a one meter hole in the hull.   No reports of injuries on either vessel.   A tug was requested and took the Umbrina under tow to safe anchorage.   There the crew sealed the hole.

Collision off Singapore

Collision off Singapore

The 190 meter long, 57000 dwt bulk freighter Sunny Horizon collided with the 106 meter long, 4998 dwt LPG tanker DL Salvia near the Sultan Shoal, Singapore.  The DL Salvia ‘s hull was breached allowing 60 metric tons of propane to be released.   No reports of injuries.  Authorities dispatched vessels to the scene t0 clean-up the spill.  An boom was placed around the DL Salvia to prevent any further pollution released into the water.  Both vessels were reported safe at anchorage.

MSC Flaminia

The 299 meter long container ship MSC Flaminia arrived at Wilhelmshaven, Germany.   After 57 days at sea, the fire-damaged container ship was escorted into the harbour by eight tugs and various government vessels.  Reports state that salvagers will be removing the 2,876 containers on board including several hundred that were destroyed by the fire.  The 680 tons of diesel fuel and 1240 tons of fuel oil will also be removed.    Authorities will conduct an investigation and begin a search for the missing crewman.
