Ocean Breeze

Ocean Breeze

The 128 meter long, 12048 dwt freighter Ocean Breeze became disabled in the Dardanelles near Canakkale, Turkey.  The freighter had suffered an engine failure and sent out a distress call.  A tug was dispatched and took the Ocean Breeze under tow to a nearby berth for repairs.  The Ocean Breeze was in ballast en route  to Tuapse from Nemrut.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.

Hanse Spirit

Hanse Spirit

The 142 meter long, 9654 dwt container ship Hanse Spirit became disabled on the Elbe River after suffering an engine failure.  The vessel dropped anchor and requested assistance.   A tug towed the Hanse Spirit to Cuxhaven where it berthed and will undergo repairs.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.

Federal Miramichi

Federal Miramichi

The 185 meter long, 27781 dwt freighter Federal Miramichi became disabled off the Island of Guernsey after suffering steering gear and engine failure.   The freighter went adrift while the crew attempted to make repairs.   Authorities contacted the vessel with a warning to take appropriate action.   A tug was requested and reached the scene, but was unable to connect a towline.   The French Coast Guard dispatched the tug Abeille Liberte which reached the freighter several hours later.  The Abeille Liberte was able to take the Federal Miramichi under tow and proceeded to Cherbourg.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.  The Federal Miramichi was en route from St. Petersburg, Russia to Paranagua, Brazil with 20000 tons of urea fertilizer before the break down.
