The 224 foot long minesweeper USS Guardian went aground on Tubattaha Reef in the Philippines.  The USS Guardian had departed from Subic Bay and was crossing the Sulu Sea toward Puerto Princesa City when the naval ship struck the reef.   Initial inspection found no leaks and no pollution released.  At least 10 meters of the reef was damaged by the grounding.  No reports of injuries to the 81 sailors on board. Weather has hampered refloating efforts.

The 20 meter long  fishing vessel Amy Harris caught fire off the Isle of Arran, Scotland.  The fire started in the vessel’s engine room and cutoff the crew from wheelhouse.   The crew was able to contact the Coastguard by a mobile phone.  A helicopter was dispatched to the scene.   The four crew were winched to safety and were taken to Campbeltown.   No reports of injuries.  Reports state the authorities were monitoring the adrift fishing vessel.  No further details reported.

Sea Blue

Sea Blue

The 78 meter long, 3099 dwt freighter Sea Blue went aground off Sharjah, UAE.   The Sea Blue had departed from Dubai in bad weather bound for several ports along the East Africa.   The vessel only traveled a short distance when it had suffered engine failure.   Pushed by wind and waves, the Sea Blue quickly went ashore.   No reports  of injuries to the 11 crew on board.   Conflicting reports state the vessel may be dismantled on site or will be later refloated.
