The 199 meter long, 44621 dwt bulk freighter Marcos Dias  became disabled and allided with the berthed 254 meter long, 106659 dwt freighter ABML Eva at Santos, Sao Paulo, Brazil.  The Marcos Dias was maneuvering in the port when it suffered a power blackout.  The crew attempted to slow the vessel by dropping two anchors, but the Marcos Dias did not stop and struck the ABML Eva and a container crane.   The Marcos Dias had its port and bow bulwark damaged.   The ABML Eva had only minor damage with the crane suffering some undisclosed damage.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.  The Port authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

Chisthi Chauhan

Chisthi Chauhan

The lighter Chisthi Chauhan sank off Chittagong, Bangladesh.   The Chisthi Chauhan was loading steel coils from a freighter at one of the outer anchorages near Chittagong when it sank.  The cause of the sinking is unknown,  Reports were unclear if anyone was injured or loss in the incident.   Port officials have launched an investigation into the incident.

TIRTA SAMUDRA XXI

The 99 meter long, 3000 dwt tanker Tirta Samutra XXI sank in the Java Sea near Jakarta, Indonesia.   The coastal tanker was overwhelmed in 5 meter waves and 35 knot winds caused by Cyclone Narelle.   The 15 crewmen on board abandoned ship into the vessel’s lifeboat.  The crew spent 18 hours before being spotted by a helicopter.  A rescue boat was dispatched and rescued the crew.   No reports of injuries.   No further details reported.
